The College of Physical Education, Yunnan Agricultural University (YAU) was approved by the Ministry of Education in March 2001. It has been authorized the qualifications for enrolling undergraduate students in physical education and social sports instruction and management (social sports) and granting the bachelor's degree in education. In 2014, a program for master's degree in sports was established. In 2018, approved by Ministry of Education, the College began to enroll high-performance athletes.
The College of Physical Education is the first PE college among the agricultural colleges universities in China. The College has won many awards in sports education from the Ministry of Education, the General Administration of Sport of China and relevant provincial or municipal departments. For more than ten years, the College has been adhering to the YAU motto of “perfect both virtues and academics; seek truth and serve agriculture”, and following the college spirit of “strive for excellence in virtues, knowledge, physical strength and aesthetics”. With a faculty who are hard-working, diligent in studying, and willing to contribute, the college has been growing.
At present, the school has a natural lawn football field for 11 people, 2 artificial lawn football fields for 5 people, 19 outdoor basketball courts, 1 indoor basketball court, 5 outdoor volleyball courts, 1 indoor volleyball court, 2 outdoor tennis courts, 2 indoor tennis courts, 2 physical rooms, 1 outdoor swimming pool, 12 indoor badminton courts, 1 standard track and field court and 1 indoor gymnastics hall.
There are 49 faculty members, including 47 full-time teachers. There are 5 professors, 16 associate professors, 27 lecturers, 1 teaching assistant, 34 master's degree holders, 1 provincial talent teacher, 1 teaching team, 9 national referees, and 1 provincial talent teacher studio. At present, there are more than 800 full-time undergraduate students and more than 100graduate students.
